Paint 3d Black And White

One is called paint and the other is called paint 3d. Because paint uses by default a black foreground over a white background your image is now converted to purely black and white. Next use the dropdown menu and choose monochrome bitmap as shown in the screenshot below.

Click on the select option at the top and select the entire background.
